Waching daily Jul 28 2018

The pair have been told they are surplus to requirements, with both Milan clubs in for Darmian and newly-promoted Wolves keen on signing Rojo

Jose Mourinho has been told he must get rid of defenders to generate funds and free up space within his squad for Leicester and England World Cup star Maguire

Although Rojo only signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal in March, worth £160,000 a week, that was done chiefly to protect his market value with United wanting up to £30m for him

The Argentina defender, 28, has played just 107 of a possible 223 games for United since joining from Sporting Lisbon for £16m four years ago, his woeful injury record finally persuading Mourinho to jettison him

Rojo has not joined United on the tail-end of their US tour despite having had the requisite three-week break following his World Cup exploits, and has been told he can find a new club

Darmian, also 28, who is part of United's US tour squad, is determined to seal his exit as quickly as possible, even if that means leaving Mourinho in the lurch

Mourinho is short of right-backs for the start of the new season, with skipper Antonio Valencia and new signing Diogo Dalot both sidelined by injury

Neither has a chance of being fit for United's Premier League opener at home to Leicester on August 10, with £15m-rated Darmian likely to start at right-back

Mourinho could switch central defender Victor Lindelof to right-back or play Ashley Young there if Darmian has left by then

But Lindelof does not return to training until Monday following a post-World Cup break, while Young remains on holiday after helping England to the semi-finals in Russia

It means Darmian is likely to have to wait to seal his move back to his native Italy, although with the Serie A transfer window closing on August 17, United are under pressure to let him leave by then

Asked about leaving United, Darmian said: "Yes, that's what I want, but we will see what happens because we don't know

"I want to play more regularly. Last season I didn't play much. That's why I spoke with the manager and also with the club about my future

"To play for probably the best club in the world is a good thing and for me it's an honour to play for United

But we have to take decisions in our life and this is my decision. Italy? It could be an option, yes, probably

Arsenal transfer news: My information is he is going to sign - Unai Emery - Duration: 2:34.

Arsenal are in the midst of a summer of change which was kickstarted by Emery's appointment as Arsene Wenger's successor

And, alongside the glut of arrivals, a host of departures have been anticipated as the Spaniard overhauls his squad

Iwobi, who's under contract at Arsenal until 2020, has been linked with a move to Everton, AC Milan or Lazio this summer

However, Emery believes the Nigeria international is going nowhere and says he will put pen to paper on fresh terms

"I have the information - he's near," said Emery, when asked about Iwobi's future ahead of tomorrow's friendly against Paris Saint-Germain

"First, I want to work with every player, and they are coming [back from their breaks after World Cup duty]

"Mesut [Ozil], Iwobi, [Mohamed] Elneny are starting to work with us, the first week is very good

My information is he is going to sign and continue with us."  Arsenal have already welcomed Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira, Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Matteo Guendouzi to the Emirates this summer

And they continue to be credited with interest in a cluster of other players, including Steven Nzonzi, Ousmane Dembele and Dennis Praet

Emery refused to rule out making any more additions to his squad before the transfer window shuts on August 9

"I believe in these players," said Emery. "Now I am very happy with the players who are working every day

"On Monday other players come with us after the World Cup. If there is a possibility to sign another player, it isn't very important now, but while the window is open, we can, it's a possibility

" Arsenal begin their 2018/19 Premier League campaign when they welcome champions Manchester City to north London on August 12

Arsenal news: Thomas Tuchel reveals whether he was close to replacing Arsene Wenger - Duration: 2:22.

Arsenal legend Wenger chose to quit the north London giants back in May with Unai Emery

At the time, however, talk was rife the Gunners would go for Tuchel, who was out of work having left Borussia Dortmund the previous summer

The German has since taken over from Emery at PSG. And Tuchel has now revealed he was never approached for the Arsenal job

"To be honest, I made my decision before Arsene Wenger made his decision," he said, speaking ahead of their pre-season clash against the Gunners

"I don't know if I was ever meant to be his successor or not. I didn't think about it because there was no question in the situation I was

" Tuchel also backed Wenger to continue in football despite leaving Arsenal after 22 years two months ago

"He will keep on coaching," Tuchel added. "It isn't my right to talk about him but I imagine it must be a strange feeling not to manage the shirts from Arsenal because he was more than just a coach

"He was Arsenal, he is a gentleman, one of the biggest coaches in the world and somewhere I have the feeling he isn't finished yet

"I have the biggest respect for him, he built a club that is famously known for its style of football, he is like an idol and a role model for every coach - especially for me

" Arsenal chose Emery after opting against two former players. Patrick Vieira held tentative talks about taking over but, ultimately, has moved to Nice

And Mikel Arteta was also snubbed with the Spaniard continuing to work alongside Pep Guardiola at Manchester City
