Waching daily Jun 1 2018

Hi there, and welcome to This Week Today: your weekly telecom channel news with a Mojo twist

Today's news is on cloud maturity, an AT&T/Google partnership, and the smartphone market.

And today's marketing tip will cover optimizing your content for search engines.

First, a report issued by CompTIA this week says that cloud computing has reached a specific

level of maturity.

Cloud has officially transitioned from an emerging technology to an established one

that is part of mainstream computing infrastructure.

Ninety one percent of firms are using cloud in some form, and six in ten companies have

more than forty percent of their IT architecture in the cloud.

Cloud has also become a path for embracing new technology such as AI, virtual reality,

blockchain, IoT and more.

Next, AT&T and Google announced an improved collaboration this week for businesses.

Business customers will now be able to use AT&T's NetBond for Cloud to connect to the

Google Cloud Platform.

And through Google's new Partner Interconnect platform, partners and end users can move

data across multiple cloud platforms without using the public internet.

G suite is also available now through AT&T Collaborate, enabling businesses to get access

to a single source for chat, voice, video and desktop sharing.

And last, the International Data Corporation has forecast that global smartphone sales

will cool this year before reigniting in 2019.

Smartphone sales are expected to slip two tenths of a percent this year in a second

straight year of slight decline, driven by the shrinking of the China market.

However sales are expected to heat up again and grow about three percent annually through

the year 2022, fueled by new 5g networks and India's thriving market.

Now that you've got your channel news for the week, how about a free marketing tip?

According to CompTIA, 39% of IT buyers research and finalize their purchase decisions on their

own before consulting with the seller.

How are they researching?

By turning to Google and their social networks, and then consuming content like whitepapers,

blogs posts and videos.

If you're working hard to create this type of content, you'll want to make sure you

optimize it properly so you catch your buyers when they are searching.

First, you'll want to make sure you're using choosing keywords that have good search

traffic, but aren't so competitive that you'll never rank.

Moz, Hubspot and Google all have keyword tools to help you refine your focus.

Next, make sure your focus keywords are strategically placed throughout the appropriate pages.

Add them to your page titles, meta descriptions, headers, body text and image tags.

Just don't overdo it or it will come across as spammy.

Finally, consistently create and optimize high quality content, and over time you'll

see huge improvements in your search traffic.
