After the successful premiere of "Fallen", a new album arrived in Poland in 2006.
We are talking about the second studio album, titled "The Open Door"
considered one of the most diverse of the group.
A work that seeks a new musical horizon, taking us from a heavy rock to a symphonic piece.
In this episode, we will pay homage to the second era of the band. Stay with us, here begins "Evanescence News".
It arrives on September 25, 2006 and Poland receives a great premiere.
The music of the symphonic rock gives space to a new record work of the band Evanescence.
"The Open Door", first published in Poland and ending its world premiere in North America on October 3, has 4 singles ready to be released
plus a promotional single (exclusive for Colombia). In addition, it presents us with a new aesthetic, an art work that fills us all with pride.
We will start this episode by breaking the album:
Amy Lee referred to the title of the band's second album during an interview, as a piece that seeks to bring down what "Fallen" had burned to the fans:
In the words of Amy Lee:
I feel like I have to get it out of my system. I am happy. I feel good now. I feel free.
That's why the album is called "The Open Door" because I feel that all the doors I pushed in my life opened, and
and now I can do whatever I want.
The second official album of Evanescence was recorded in "The Record Plant" in Hollywood
and mixed, in the same studio that mixed "Synthesis", "Oceans Way Studios" in March of 2006.
One of the most important milestones of the album was due to the release of the first single.
We talk about "Call Me When You're Sober", in Spanish "Llámame cuando estés sobrio".
For the first time the video clip was released before the single. Which was published on August 7, 2006.
According to the vocalist Amy Lee, the song is very literal.
The song was written thinking about her ex-boyfriend, Shaun Morgan, vocalist of the band Seether
who at that time was in rehabilitation for alcohol abuse
for which Amy Lee was criticized for not respecting the recovery of her ex-boyfriend.
It also shows the relationship between the song and the children's story "Little Red Riding Hood"
due to the red layer that occupies the vocalist in the video.
The cold winter arrives in the USA and with it a new year.
On February 6, 2007 the second video clip of the band, entitled "Lithium" is released.
"Lithium", It is set in a snowy forest and shows two different Amy Lee, representing different emotions.
One is dressed in white walking through the forest, representing happiness, while the other is dressed in black and below the surface of the water of a lake representing sadness.
Both sing to each other trying to understand how they can work together. The video ends in that happiness lets go of sadness.
After 3 months the band promotes a new video, which at the request of the fans, was modified.
We talked about the music video "Sweet Sacrifice", in Spanish "Dulce Sacrificio". released on April 5, 2007.
Initially, "All that I'm living for" had been planned as the next single and the band had announced it at concerts.
However, due to the reaction of the fans and at the request of the band, the label reconsidered the decision
and changed the song, with "Sweet Sacrifice" being the final decision.
The video was directed by P.R Brown, the director of "Imperfection" and who also designed the art of the entire "Synthesis" album.
The video begins with Lee on a sofa and as the song progresses she begins to sing the lyrics as she gets up from him.
The vocalist uses a red dress and makeup of the same color on her face.
Later in other scenes, she is shown singing in a room similar to the thriller "The Cell"
while the band is playing in another room. During the video you can see scenes briefly projected which are part of the plot of the film.
The end of the year is approaching and Evanescence continues to surprise its followers.
In this case it was Amy Lee who presented and performed her song.
We talked about the video clip "Good Enough" in Spanish "Suficientemente buena"
being the fourth and last single from the album The Open Door.
According to Amy Lee, it is the video with more special effects than Evanescence has done.
At the beginning of the video you can see Amy burying a photograph
after this she starts to walk through the room where she is
takes her diary and writes some lines on it, which are fragments of the song.
Then he plays the piano, and that's when everything starts to catch fire.
However, she does not seem to mind because everything is "good enough",
and suddenly the rain falls, extinguishing the fire and fanning the memories that she had buried making them flourish on her piano.
Amy Lee has said that the inspiration for Good Enough was her current husband, Josh Hartzler, as well as for "Bring Me to Life."
Before committing herself, Amy dedicates a few lines in the acknowledgments of The Open Door
in which she says that "nothing inspires her as he does".
But what about "Weight Of The World", in Spanish "El Peso Del Mundo", the single released exclusively for Colombia?
Thus we closed the first part of the special dedicated to "The Open Door".
