North Korea upgraded to 'URGENT national security threat' as US prepares action

DONALD Trump has upgraded North Korea to an "urgent national security threat" after calling a War Council.

The US and North Korea stand on the brink of nuclear war with both nations unwilling to back down over provocations.

On the 85th anniversary of the founding of the North Korean army, Kim Jong-un held a terrifying ballistic fire drill where tanks simulated blowing US aircraft carrier the Carl Vinson out of the water.

The US responded by staging its own drill with its South Korean allies, and test firing its own ICBM, capable of decimating North Korea.

Fears were raised that the Donald was about to declare war on the Communist Kingdom after calling a surprise full senate meeting on the subject.

And while Trump stopped short of full-scale war, he informed senators on how he planned to tackle the hermit state, which included military action.

A joint statement issued by Rex Tillerson and Mike Pence claimed all efforts to reign in the North had so far had failed.

It read: Past efforts have failed to halt North Koreas unlawful weapons programs and nuclear and ballistic missile tests.

With each provocation, North Korea jeopardises stability in northeast Asia and poses a growing threat to our allies and the US homeland. North Koreas pursuit of nuclear weapons is an urgent national security threat and top foreign policy priority..

The billionaire businessman has urged China to rein in their neighbours with diplomatic sanctions, but has stated he is willing to tackle the tubby tyrant on his own if it refuses The statement adds: The presidents approach aims to pressure North Korea into dismantling its nuclear, ballistic missile, and proliferation programs by tightening economic sanctions and pursuing diplomatic measures with our allies and regional partners.

However, we remain prepared to defend ourselves and our allies.".

Maddie cop 'critical lead' hopes dashed

A TOP TV investigator yesterday accused police of giving Madeleine McCann's parents false hope.

Mark Williams-Thomas, 46, revealed his "concern" over claims detectives were probing a "critical" line of inquiry. Met Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said he did not want to spoil the probe by revealing it.

At the same time he announced four alleged burglars had been cleared of involvement in the case.

Mr Williams-Thomas, who went to Portugal to help days after Madeleine disappeared in 2007, said he feared Mr Rowley had gone too far in suggesting a breakthrough was imminent.

He tweeted: "Met Police say have a 'significant line of inquiry that may give the answer'. "Concern they are using such strong words #MadeleineMcCann "At one stage the Met Police treated the burglary theory as 'significant line of inquiry'.

"Was never credible – now as good as ruled out.

"Very careful choice of words is always crucial – am not sure 'credible & answer' are best choice.'' The investigator, who unmasked Jimmy Savile, pointed out the same force had described the account of an alleged victim of a VIP paedophile ring as "credible and true".

No evidence was found to back up the claims.

Mr Williams-Thomas added: "Again the McCanns wake up to headlines of major developments – 'significant lead that may provide the answer. ' "Met have to deliver this time.

Official Call of Duty WWII Reveal Trailer 2 - Duration: 3:59.

Official Call of Duty®: WWII Reveal Trailer 2

Call of Duty: WW2 is the "right game at the right time", Infinite Warfare the "wrong game at the wrong moment," says Activision CEO

Call of Duty: WW2 is the "right game at the right time", Infinite Warfare the "wrong game at the wrong moment," says Activision CEO.

Call of Duty: WW2 represents a return to the series' roots, but the timing of this resurgence is also important, according to Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg.

Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg is the man responsible for juggling the three Call of Duty studios as each one works on a game completely different from the rest.

But when he greenlit Call of Duty: WW2 in 2014, he knew it would hit a particular rhythm with franchise audience.

"I think it can be simultaneously true that it was a really high quality game that Infinity Ward did a really terrific job with and the game was delivered at a very high level, creatively — and that it might have been the wrong game at the wrong moment in terms of getting that rhythm right with the audience and with the culture," Hirshberg told Polygon about last year's Infinite Warfare.

The CEO said that although the three-year cycle has great creative advantages for developers and result in better games for players, it makes predicting future trends more difficult.

Hirshberg also said the impetus to go back to WW2 wasn't particularly motivated by EA's decision to back to a historical setting with Battlefield 1.

"I can speak for us and you know I totally acknowledge that these things do seem to happen in waves like this," he added.

"I mean three years ago when we dreamed up this game and decided it was time to go back to our roots, we could not have known at that time that the year we would launch it would be a year in which there would be several World War 2 movies in the theatres and that there would be other competitors going back to historical settings.

Hirshberg believes Call of Duty: WW2 strikes the right balance between being familiar, and fresh enough not to be boring.

"But when you get that balance right, I think that's when you get the best games and the best fan response and the best results overall.

I think this is one of those years where it feels like the right game at the right time being made by the right team," he said.

Call of Duty: WW2 will be officially revealed in a livestream later today. Activision did not divulge details about what will be shown, but you can look forward to our impressions soon.
