I can't change the things that happened before.
The only thing that I can do is to show: this is who I am and this is how I am
and this is the way how I'm going to live my life.
Search brightness in everything what you do and create a sky full of stars.
I have always been creative.
My creations have always been there.
It got less when I was sick, but it has been there my entire life.
My creativity definitely helped me to get through difficult times.
I try to work as varied as possible.
So I try to work with photography and film
but especially, if I have to describe it, expressionistic and surrealistic portrets.
I try to work as pure as possible.
It doesn't have to be happy to be beautiful.
It is okay if it is confronting or angry or scary.
Then maybe people will wonder what the story is behind my art.
What does it mean? What does he want to say?
That's the way how I try to work: I want to work with an essence.
That's really important to me.
Maybe people think: oh, he is just doing something. No, it really means something.
I get my inspiration from nature, from people and from creative environments.
We have serveral art galleries in Oisterwijk.
It's really nice just to be in those environments and to observe and to look at things in my own way.
I take that inspiration along in my own work.
I'm convinced that I see things differently than most people.
That's because of my experience with anorexia.
It's kept me in its grip and captured me for a long time.
I felt like I was trapped with my own hands.
I didn't have my own identity anymore.
Now I'm getting it back bit by bit. I'm in control of my life.
I have wanted that for so long.
More and more I have the feeling that I can do it. That's cool.
I know now what that feels like, but I also know what it's like to be free.
I try to express that.
I'm convinced that people see that I'm living my life to the max. That I'm getting 800 procent out of my life.
I think that's it. And if that's the truth then I would find that absolutely wonderful
because that's what I like to show to people.
The value that Instagram has for me is that it's cool to see that people appreciate the way I write and live.
The latest amazing thing that happened is my collaboration with Hugo Boss.
I had contact with the under manager and he asked me if I would like to promote his new collection on my page.
The reactions were overwhelming. I was flabbergasted.
Really, really cool.
Creating art means being free, being the person that I am and it's a way to express my identity.
I put my focus on my current work but I can see in comparisons with my previous work that I'm feeling better.
You can see that I'm doing great.
And that's amazing, that's cool.
I walk my own path.
A path for me alone.
Don't be afraid: I'm not going anywhere.
The path is for everyone.
Because I leave my rails behind.
I had to find the path myself.
Sometimes I had to make the path myself.
Even if I'm out of luck sometimes,
I have my own path and I know the way.
