Waching daily Apr 2 2017

Our woman, who we just saw in the video...

She's present: Stefanie Joosten!

Here you are, applause!

Stefanie Joosten!

Hi everyone!

Hello

It's on!

Stefanie, how are you?

Fine, I'm still doing great.

Welcome back to the Dutch Comic Con.

Will this become a yearly tradition?

Yes!

Now it is.

My second time... but I'm happy to be here again!

Your new project: REKINDLE

It's a Dutch sci-fi movie.

We the Dutch don't have a lot of experience with that.

What attracted you to work on this project?

Actually, it IS the fact that it was never done in Holland.

It's the first big science fiction project.

I consider this a unique team, a unique concept...

It's something I'd like to be part of.

I do like to keep it international.

So I'm not only focussed on the Netherlands.

But that's why I like to do English spoken movies in the Netherlands.

I did that last year with Hostage Acts.

A movie by Paul Verhoeven.

Which is now in post production.

And REKINDLE will also be in English.

It attracts a wider audience, so that appeals to me.

Does the fantasy genre mean something to you?

Yeah, I did grow up as kind of a nerd, a gamer.

It's quite fitting.

I do have some affinity...

to be immersed in a fantasy world.

About your character: her name is Mika isn't it?

How would you describe her?

What kind of person is she really?

Good-hearted.

But she grew up in poverty... all alone.

It's a cruel world in which she lives.

She stands up for herself.

It's a simple life.

But she does have a her own sense of justice, which she follows through.

It's a physical role.

What do you prefer to play?

This, or motion capture?

Gosh, that's a bit of a hard question.

I do like to work physically.

It's always fun to be able to work in more emotion into something.

But both are comparable.

Motion capture is also a form of acting.

It doesn't have to be that different.

After this panel has concluded, we will all go to the cinema together.

Which is really close to this building.

And we will show for the very first time the teaser trailer of REKINDLE.

Will you guys all be there?

How did the recording sessions go?

Really well!

It was thrilling!

It was a grand team, I was really impressed.

It all went really smoothly.

It was very cold!

But it was all worth it!

It was recorded in The Veluwe.

In the mid-winter.

We got a beautiful desert region.

It really fit the world.

Last time you spoke of an anime film you were working on.

Implosion: Zero Day?

Yes, true!

There's also a Dutch documentary, which we saw recently.

It's called Sync.

It's about overdubbing.

And it brought up the question: do we need more Dutch dubs?

Would that interest you?

Like translating anime to Dutch?

It does reach a different audience.

I would consider that for sure.

You can be as vague as you want about this, if you can't reveal too much.

But there are rumours of you collaborating with Kojima-san once again.

It was sparked by certain pictures.

And also when he put on a cap with your face on it.

Was that meant as promotion for you, or did it mean anything more?

Would you like to play a role in Death Stranding?

Or have you already been asked?

Eeeeeh... unfortunately I can't comment on that.

That's enough information!

This will appear on social media for sure.

So the whole world will know within no-time.

Let's just assume it was meant as promotion for her.

How you were recruited.

You walking into a room.

Was it really that casual?

Not really...

I did do an audition.

In Japan.

If somebody wants to ask you for a project.

What's the best way to approach you?

I have my own management bureau here in Holland.

Mickeymactroy.

You could always reach me through that.

Also for international projects.

It can all be done nowadays, in the internet age.

I'm open for all ideas.

Great, you're open for all ideas...

That's really cool.

Because I myself would like to pitch something.

Okay...

¿Por qué se crean las auroras boreales? - Duration: 3:32.

"In the heart of every winter there lives a throbbing spring,

and behind every night comes a smiling aurora."

(Khalil Gibran, Lebanese poet)

The great influence of the sun on us is amazing.

It awakens us every morning,

gives us warmth as well as energy,

and gives us the light that illuminates the world.

Our benevolent star

gives the icy and long polar nights a divine spectacle.

The aurora borealis is this gift.

A unique phenomenon,

of impressive colored lights that stretch in the sky.

But ...

Why do the so-called northern lights exist?

First let's start with the seemingly obvious.

Where can we see the auroras?

Most of the time,

they can only be seen in polar regions,

but at other times they were seen as far away as New Orleans

in the southern United States.

There are two types of auroras,

the Borealis (at the north pole)

and Australis (at the south pole),

being the lights of both a "mirror",

ie both auroras are identical.

The aurora borealis

originate thanks to the clash between

charged particles from the sun to the Earth.

These particles interact with the earth's magnetic field,

and naturally move towards the poles,

where the field is weaker, allowing them to enter the atmosphere and "catch fire."

It is the ignition of gases

such as oxygen or nitrogen in the high layers of the atmosphere

(from 80km to 640km high),

what really creates the auroras

and gives them their characteristic colors and brightness.

It is curious

how a "failure" in the effectiveness of our magnetic field to protect us from the sun's rays

is the origin of this beautiful and legendary phenomenon.

And yes,

it took place very prominent in the mythology of towns

like Eskimos

who believed that the aurora borealis was the representation of spirits and animals,

or the Maoríes,

who maintained that the auroras were the reflection of the fire of their torches and bonfires.

It is useless to resist such beauty and not give vent to our imagination,

to delight us with all kinds of figures:

from snakes to bridges,

from spirits to gods.

Here ends the video

I hope it has been of your liking
