Klopp promoted the young American winger to the senior squad during his time at the helm of Dortmund and even had an £11m bid rejected for the youngster after taking charge at Liverpool in 2015
But it is the recent form of Xherdan Shaqiri that has convinced Klopp he wasn't seriously considering a move for Pulisic, reports the Liverpool Echo
Shaqiri signed for £13m in the last summer transfer window and his impressive performances for the Reds has seen him scoring six goals in 15 Premier League appearances
The former Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Stoke player has proven to be a bargain signing for Klopp and has become a huge hit at Anfield - with a match-winning double against Manchester United not at all hurting his reputation
Another likely issue would be the fee required for a player who would most liking be a squad player for Liverpool for the foreseeable future
Pulisic, who can play on both wings and as a number 10, completed a £58million move to Chelsea, in a deal which will see the youngster loaned back to Dortmund until the end of the season
He had less than 18 months remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga side and had rejected Dortmund's offer of a new deal
Klopp hasn't hidden his admiration for the American and speaking after Liverpool's pre-season game against Dortmund in the United States, he said: "If Christian would at one point join us, I don't know
"But I like him and it's not like that could be the problem. "We respect contracts still and there is no market that I know about in the moment
"I known him since he was a kid and he's still not really old. "He's a fantastic player and it's deserved that people think highly of him in America and in Germany it's the same
"If he wants to play in England one day or whatever and he, for sure, has the chance to do so
" Following the announcement of his transfer Pulisic said he was looking forward to the new challenge in England
"In summer I move on to Chelsea and to a new competition, the English Premier League," Pulisic said
"It's a privilege to have signed for such a legendary club and I look forward to working hard towards being a contributor to their team of world class players
