Baden Powell is a big influence to my music.
I love how he plays the guitar, the pressure that he plays the guitar
and he brings freedom to the Brazilian guitar. He also brought a unique swing and rhythm
that's unique to the Brazilian guitar. And after him somehow
everyone was influenced by his way of playing.
He was also a great composer who wrote so many well know songs
that are played and sung around the world.
I have a special passion for the Afro Sambas which
is a partnership of him and Vinicius de Moraes and
I listen a lot to Afro Sambas.
I had the opportunity to play with his sons Philippe,
who is a pianist, and Marcel who is a guitar player.
I never played with Baden when he was alive but somehow
I have this connection to Baden through his sons.
For the last two years I have a connection through MPS
and I listened to the records he did here.
There are many, it is a special moment of his career that was recorded here on MPS.
I am very happy to be part of today's MPS catalogue, playing the bandolim,
embracing his music and continuously making reference to the music that he created.
